Bentley opened in 1854 and was a junction station for the Bentley to Bordon Light Railway between 1905 and 1957. The branch line remained in place until 1966. Located at the start to the Shipwrights Way long distance walk, the Alice Holt Forest can be reached by footpaths leading off Platform 2.

The village of Bentley lies approximately 20 minutes walk away along Station Road on the other side of the main A31 road.
